1979: That year Peter Monteverdi developed a light-weight, 4WD off-road vehicle corresponding to Swiss Army standards, the MONTEVERDI Military 230. A civilian version, the MONTEVERDI 250 Z and a cab-over-engine army transporter, the MONTEVERDI Military 260 F, followed.
Due to the expected high volume of production Peter Monteverdi sold the rights to the project to the Swiss commercial-vehicle manufacturer Saurer in Arbon.
